Is anyone running Toyo M55 tires in a 285/75/16 size? What are some pro's and con's of this tire? Thanks for the info.

There are only two negatives:

1 - They are expensive.
2 - They can be noisy at speed.

Other than that they are an excellent almost bullet proof tire.

I was considering these tires when I was searching last summer. The only thing that deterred me was how expensive they were and I couldn't find anybody in my area that could get them for me.

They wear like iron....... Ill probably buy another set after (if) this set wears out.

How do these do in deep snow? What about packed snow and ice?

I don't have the 285's but I do have the 255's and I was in the snow earlier this month and in the packed stuff no problem. Deep snow (haha that in Cali is about 12 inches) no problem. Ice, didn't really run into much of that, a few patches on some side streets up in the mountains that were not an issue. They were great in the rain as well. Only con is because they are built so stout, they do weigh more than the average tire in the same size.

Noise, yeah there is a hum, but nothing to worry about especially if you it's your work truck. Mine truck is the vacation mobile and I get no complaints from wife and kids.

Cost, about 10-15% more compared to same size tire, but they typically wear 10-15% longer (what I've read, not experienced as I have only 4000 miles so far). But that's my take.

M55

I own a 99 K3500 crewcab and installed 4 new M55 tires in 09. I carry a thousand lbs in the box and pull a four thousand lb trailer. I hate the tires. The back end "swims" and wears the tires quickly. Air pressure changes did not help. I don't feel safe. I took them off and installed some AT's with the same load and they handle wonderfully, totally different. M55 has good traction in snow and ice and mud at slow speed in northern BC., but sliced a front tire open and destroyed it going to Inuvik.
Next tires will be Revo 2

I had to reply!!

Worn 3/32 in 8k. Went through packed snow, 4" powder and ice for a month strait. One day rear axle weight was 7400 lbs. These tires have been great. Used to run the mt's but I can't afford a new set every year. All 4 tires are wearing perfectly even also. Rotate every 4k and run 65psi in front and rear. I'll run 80psi in the rear if I'm hauling more that 3k. From what I'm told they hold up better as they wear. If I can get 2 years out of a set I'll never buy another tire. Don't notice road noise. So far I'd call these the perfect tire for a work truck. I've run bfg's, toyo mt's, at's, michlin ltx, and those cheap Korean RT03's.
