I'll start this, here goes:
-start with a K20 chassis, silverado of course
-Dana 60 front diff with air locker 3.73 ratio
-12k ramsey or warn winch
-front skid plate (steering linkage protection)
-4" suspension lift
-custom built 6.2 w/20 psi turbo, timing gears, db2 pump, custom built air and intake manifold, block bedplated plus 1" blockcrete, 4130 crank, ceramic coat...well everything, block and heads machined for brass cylinder seal rings, custom built exhaust manifolds w/ 1 3/4" tubes and 3" collectors. and 3" dual exhaust with mufflers, ARP head/main studs....can you say "Hot Rod"
-33"-34" tires
-NV 4500 tranny with removeable bellhousing and old style mechanical clutch
-NP 205 transfer case
-14 bolt full floater rear diff with air locker and 3.73 ratio
-HHO generator
-guages, guages, guages
-and least important, the creature features ie; ac, power windows and locks, split bench seat, tilt, cruise, bla, bla, bla
-oh, can't forget the gun rack

After thinking about it a bit, hell this is a dream anyway,...I'd use the NV 5600 tranny.

You can't use a manual linkage on either of those transmissions...and besides, why the hell would you want to?!
Of course you can, its a matter of will. I've just never been a fan of the hydraulic set-ups.:D

:beerchug:
The drivetrain sounds dynomite, but I would go with a 91-93 truck, and make it a 1500, 2WD, reg. cab, short box. Of course i would put a 14 bolt FF or a Dana in the back also, but imagine the power to weight ratio on that baby:driver::chevy: Oh and who needs creature comforts, cruise power windows and power locks are for the lazy.

I'm with you on this one, just make it a stepside and put on some stacks ala the old Dodge 'lil Red Express trucks, stuff a turbo on it, 5 spd tranny, methanol injection to cool the charge, a tasteful hood scoop for cooler air... Hey - that sounds a lot like what I'm building!!!

Use some tall gears in back and some aerodynamic tuning and it should be an econobox! It beats driving a miniature sedan.

Since you insist on duel exhausts, better have twin turbos to go with them. I still like the suburban body.

Yeah, I just assumed twins.

The idea here was thay you guys build your own damn truck and quit trying to change mine:lol:....Besides that, its a good way to spark ideas amongst some knowledgeable people.

You pretty much stole my dream. I am working on building it now. I do not want to shorten my '89 burb though. I will most likely stick with 35's and a 4" all spring lift also, since I tow. I am thinking about 3.5" exhaust. My dream truck would come with an Atlas 4 speed transfer case and a 8274 winch.

86 shortbox reg cab silverado
6" lift with 39x18 Mickey Thompson's
6.5 turbo
Built up 700r4
WVO conversion
Indash gauges
12,000 winch on front bumper
14 bolt rear and 60 front both with 4:10 gears and lockers
Black exterior
Comfy cloth bench

OH wait!! i already have all that.....

well ok, not the d60 front but im working on it!!!
and it does have a few dings, so fix that and repaint. DONE!!

Im actually building my dream truck.
84 Blazer frame
4" suspension lift
3.42 gearing with Auburn limited slip, front/rear
35" tires
700R4 tranny
58 Truck body
Im using 93 6.5 Turbo engine
Electric fuel pump
Toggle or push button switches to control everything
84 Steering column and brake assy
Hydroboost
Dual stacks
Im actually almost there, just got the engine wired up and got it started using 1 old battery that wouldnt start my small block engine.
I wanted a truck that could do it all. Wheeling, light towing, good mileage, looks good and fun to drive.

I like that idea of Daisey Duke twins riding at all times. Where can I get me 2 of those?

truck

I pretty much already have mine.
Mine is a 1989 crew cab single wheel one ton.
With a 1982 6.2 with a banks turbo
100% rust free texas truck
cold a/c
3 inch cowl induction hood
3 inch straight pipe exhaust
sm 465 trans with a np 205 t-case

i have a 4 inch lift that will be installed soon.

The only major changes i want to make is get some new wheels and add a nv 4500 and those 2 things are in the works.

I would love to build up or locate a 1-ton Chevy Pathfinder 4x4 van w/ 6.2L or 6.5 turbo, manual trans NV4500 or SM465 w/ gear vendors OD.

I would love it if my van didn't LEAK WATER in the drivers cab when it rained heavily.

Alternative fuels;
HHO generator, dual tank WVO setup, and a fuel pump that can take it

Road-computing;
Onboard GPS, GIS mapping, GPRS/EDGE/3G cell network interfaces, and WiFI AP for hosting as well as war driving wireless networks. Laptop docking station mount and remote LCD on the doghouse.

Electricity;
Flexible solar panel for the roof & 3rd deep cycle battery for AC/DC.
Battery isolator and re-charge from alternator as well as solar.
I've already got an 80AH battery, 1750watt inverter, and DC bus/fuse
system for camping-power.

Exhaust - switchable light illumination of my exhaust trail so I can gauge
over-fueling at night with nobody behind me.

Lights - fog lights or massive front illumination for night work.
Neon ground effects.

Gauges - fuel pressure, exhaust gas temp, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp,
cylinder head temp.

Fuel line FLOW METER to exactly measure how much I've used per trip
so calculating MPG doesn't require filling the tank every time.

I've never been a van person, but I have to admit, a short wheelbase K van has appeal.:D

#26 ·
I would have two, one for a daily driver and one for a tow rig.
DD-
'91-'93 K1500 6.2 5 spd - turn up ip, bigger injectors, advance timing a bit

Tow rig-
'80's crew cab dually
dana 60 front
gm 14 ff rear
4.10 gears
6.2 diesel with aforementioned mods and a banks turbo
SM465 4 spd
205 tcase
silverado with a/c pw, pl, ect.
Chrome DMI drop center rear bumper with cushion hitch
Gooseneck ball

I'd be thrilled to have any old chevy crewcab, you can always convert it to a diesel.

Suburban interior (front buckets, center console, overhead console, extending sun visors
Alpine KD870 head unit with 4-6x9 Sony 4way speakers
Dynamat on floor and up the back wall of cab, all kinds of extra insulation throughout
Power inverter built into the console with 120V AC power
Cobra 129GTL CB with dual 48" whips

Coming this winter:
Full late model 6.5 severe duty cooling system (massive custom rad, dual thermostats, 21" Duramax fan with the SD fan clutch, HF water pump)
Functional cowl induction with custom cold air intake box and dual ACDelco air filters
250HP DB2 marine injection pump
Custom turbo
4" lift kit
maybe 19.5" wheels with commercial tires
gooseneck hitch

Getting close to my dream truck :D

Sounds like a sweet truck! What else can you tell us about the 250hp marine pump? Could this be a good upgrade for a 6.2?
Will your truck peel those dually tires without popping the clutch?

I'll give it a shot:

'75 full convertable K5 Blazer, RCpullerdude's choice of engine (but 6.2 because of the title of this thread), alternative fuel like zetan suggested, dieselfumes' choice of axles; Dana 60's w/ARB portal outers, but add ARB air lockers, 4:56 gears, full belly pan, coil springs with 4 link front and rear, 5-speed, NP205 (twin sticked) and Black Box, onboard air and welder, High Angle Driveline driveshafts, kickin stereo, full guages...I mean everything, and somehow keep it street legal..............and a gun rack.

Oh, and 81C1500diesel's choice for a tow rig.

'75 full convertable K5 Blazer,

Oh ya.....completely forgot i had a 74 back in the day....nothing like a true convertible....i loved that thing and usually stuck some 8-12 of us in it back in high school.....good ol times!!

Hmmm. Interesting...

Let's see.

I'd go with a crewcab longbox in the '82-'87 body style. 4wd, Dana 60 in the front, 14bff in the back. Single rear wheel one ton. Stock rims from a modern HD, you know the kind. just a light lift, maybe just 2". I'm debating on transmission - I'd go for the automatic, but I want overdrive... So I guess 4L80E. Turbo of course, single pipe out the right rear. I need a snowplow, and a winch. Toolbox across the back below the sliding rear window, fifth wheel hitch in the bed, regular reese style as well. I'd want the dual saddle tanks, plus a suburban tank under the back. Power windows and locks, and I think interestingly enough I'd want carpet in it.

Color. Hmmm. I don't know... White, red and black tend to be my picks.

Oh yeah - I guess I'd probably want a nice stereo with front input and a couple of subs.

And maybe a built in nav system.

Maybe some day when I don't have to worry about putting food on the table... I'd rather have that truck than a new Duramax.
