after looking at the ugly rear wheel openings long enough (2 weeks) today i installed the G.M. 19166682 rear wheel opening inserts. what an improvment, they made me much happier with the appearance of my all white truck.

I did the same thing, they should come with those things. Much easier to clean and keep clean too and they look great.

What was involved to the install? I assume they will work on the Silverado as well? The only part I could find was this. Also...I have a bracket bolted to the frame right behind the wheel for the 5ver hitch...would this interfere with the install?

Thanks.

Wheel well liners

Yeah,

Wheel well liners

Yeah,

It seems stupid that you have to buy something that should have been there oem. That being said , the liners pretty much snap in. I drilled two holes for extra push clips instead of screws per instructions, but it seemed sturdy without the extra clips. Total install time: about 7 minutes. As far as the bracket, it will push out the liner a bit, but it shouldn't be a problem from what I can see.

no problem, i have them too, the liner snaps right in behind the splash guard screws.
btw SJH if you notice, i have a 5th wheel too :)

I installed a set on my LTZ a couple weeks ago. Looks so much better, easier to clean. keeps the paint from getting worn down by the constant sandblasting that occurs around the tire.

:nopics:

Somebody had to do it! What year trucks are these liners available for?

How much did you guys pay for these? Do you think it's a better option than paying a little extra to have the wheel wells LINE-X'd when I have the bed sprayed?

They are $99 for the pair. You can probably get a better deal than I on the Line-X at the time they do the bed. My mistake was not doing it at the same time. Just decided to do the wheel wells and they want $140 plus tax per wheel! I am opting for the $99 liners. Several owners are happy with the results from undercoat rattle cans! That is also an option!

Hard to beat Line-X for a quality product and finish! Simply a matter of money!

Best of luck.

Had my truck undercoated when I bought it from the dealership and they undercoated the rears on mine for me...

where is the pictures

Here are pics of the installed liners on mine.

The liners fit nice and snug against the frame and inside the wheelhouse.

There are channels that allow any sort of moisture to drain away. I doubt it will be a problem.

They also do not interfere with the OEM mudflaps.

I got the set for a bit under 80 bux for the pair, since I get a discount through my garage. :D

Great pictures! That really helps a lot! Did you have to drill a bunch of holes to install and where exactly?

Many thanks!

There are 4 small, wax-coated self-drilling/tapping screws for each side, plus three push pins. The push pins are along the top edge of the wheel opening, the holes are already in the sheetmetal and in the liners. If you look carefully in the pics (especially the first one), you can see the bolts, there are two on each bottom edge roughly above the leaf springs. The holes are predrilled in the liners, just spin the bolts with a drill-mounted 5/16 socket.

So far so good with the paint rubbing issue. There is a factory piece of clear plastic film applied to the bottom corner where the flap mounts, it's there to help prevent stone chips. I am considering wrapping the area where all the flaps mount just to be safe.

the flares would be fine, the liner fits inside the odiginal body

Well, thanks to raengines and Greatbear, I installed the wheel house liners on my 2007.5. Did have a little problem with the 5th wheel mounting brackets that bolt to the frame but it still looks better than stock. I am not very "mechanical minded" so I took a bunch of pictures in case there are readers like me! Took me a little more than an hour...instructions say only 30 minutes!

Tried to put them in sequencial order but couldn't get Photobucket to cooperate! Click the thumbs!

Thanks for the help!

I have the molded mud flaps and they don't interfere although it looks like I need to take them off to check for rubbing and install some type of protection between them and my paint

I have been looking for some bulk rolls of 3m Paint Protective Film but it seems impossible to find. I did order the OEM stuff they put in front of the rear fender flare on the new trucks. Expensive! $12 for roughly an 8 inch x 2 inch piece. This was the closest thing I could find online! As soon as I get one or the other I will install the molded flaps!

Best of luck!
