What transmissions came with the 6.2L?

SM420, 465, TH400?


Don't suppose the NV4500 was sold with the 6.2L? (I know it was for the 6.5)

THM 400, 700R4 and SM465 were the available choices for the 6.2 trucks. Because the back of the 6.2 block is standard Chevrolet pattern, most all transmission/bellhousing combinations will fit with proper flywheel/flexplate or clutch bolt patterns. This includes AT350 and Powerglides! Don't forget the pilot bearing/bushing for a manual trans application.

Hmmmm? Wonder what would happen if you put an M22 rock crusher in a light 1/2 ton P.U. with a 6.2 Turbo engine and some low rear end gears?

I have a 84 K10 6.2 with a 4-spd manual with overdrive, not a granny low... what is this trans?

I know it came factory with this trans since we have owned it since new.

Your tranny is a New Process based off of the Mopar 833 car 4spd,not sure of the actual model number.Dodge trucks also used the same tranny in the 80's.I do some more research and see if I can find the model #.

What gears and tire size are you running in you c30?

Do you know much about it? Is it very stout?

I've had one and a friend of mine had two. All three failed(mainshaft bearings). All three were in lifted trucks with larger tires and built 350's. They will probably be fine behind a diesel as long as it wasn't abused.

Mine has a "noise" in it that disappears when you press the clutch in. I can't really hear it when it is in gear, but that may just be because of other noises going on. It is most noticeable in neutral. I was told by one person that it was a bearing going bad, and then was told by another that it was the type of flywheel in the trans (dual mass, maybe?) and that all those trans make that noise and it was normal.

It is hard to describe the noise, just kind of a low, consistent, noise....I can't describe it, but it would be unnoticeable until you notice it disappear when you press the clutch in...

Gear & tire size

Snowman86: My 1986 Chev C30 truck has the 4.56 differential and my tires are LT235/85/R16 load range E. Original tires were 7.50/R16. My present tires do kiss when the tires are cold and I am at 10,000 gross with my camper/equipment. The 7.50's are narrower tires and would not kiss, but they are difficult to find in load range E. I have not had a tire problem with the 235's.

duckhunter, my 84 G20 van had that trannie. It was great for fuel milage, 23.5 MPH. However 1st and reverse was fast. I didn't like it for starting on a grade or towing heavy loads. Hard on the clutch, I thought. But it ran for 247K My input shaft bearing is worn out too. I still have the trannie and will rebuild it, if possible, and use it in a 41 Chevy PU with the 6.2 out of that 84 G20 in front of it. Mike
