2 qts. although I think I put in a tiny bit more than that.

Some have used 3 qts. by using the speed sensor hole, but I prefer 2 qts. through the normal fill hole.

I've been using a completely different fluid for a while in the XHD transfer cases in the Diesel trucks and have had suprisingly very good results in the auto-trak cases as well.

Its not a motor oil nor a transmission oil. I dont want to endorse it publicaly just yet as I dont have enough long term data. Its a commercially available fluid, no snake oil. Just making sure it works well before I endorse it as a replacement.
So? Plenty of time to get "data"! =)

I'm the second owner and this is my first fluid change since owning the truck with 120,000 miles. I just drained my NP-263 a few minutes ago. The fluid that came out is BRIGHT Green, almost fluorescent. What Gives?

I am going to refill with Amsoil SVG, which is bright red. I was expecting the spent fluid to come out redish brown or something like that, as even the Dexron III is the same color as SVG or other ATF is mostly red.

Anyone know of a fluid that could have been in my truck that is green? Thx!
I know I'm responding to a 5 year old post. The only bright or fluorescent green lubricants I know of are Motul 300V motorcycle and race oils. Kawasaki used to sell a synthetic motorcycle oil that was the same color and was assumed to be rebottled Motul.

LMM and newer trucks run a MP1226/MP1626 tcase
MP being magna power which bought out NV/NP

hmmmm ... maybe I'll mix mine and get the best of both worlds!
:grd:
I have used a 50/50 in my TC for 680,000 miles , just opened it up after last winter and replace the chain back case and bearings , looked good chain had a lot of slop but look at the miles , run it in 4WD a lot in the winter , at 300,000 mile had the pump rub , cleaned it up and put JB Weld on it to stop the leak and ran it to 680,000 miles
