Rockin a 2006 Chevy 2500hd 6.6L LLY. I've done some searching on here about this ticking noise. It kind of sounds like the ticking noise your hear from heat shrinkage or thermal expansion. Gm says this is normal when the truck is around 158 deg F. I do notice it mostly whe I fIrst start the truck up so I'd say it's around 158 deg. I crawled under the truck when it was doing it and it sounds like it's in the tranny close to the bell housing. GM says it's from the block so I guess it could be from the block, but If I had to guess, I'd say it's come from the tranny. Any of you guys have this prob and is it normal?

Thanks, Kix

i ve noticed my truck makes a chirping squeaking noise when i start it in the morning.it comes from the drivers side and seem to be from the side of the block. it only started doing it this winter and it only does it when the engine is really cold like a over night starts. i live in toronto and some mornings are pretty cold. i plug it in if its really cold but it still does it even when its plugged in. any ideas ??

Most likely the belt squeaking. A lot of them do this. Some have switched to the gator belt with good results
