Ok, it's not a diesel question, but I know a lot of you have suburbans from the '90s.

The lift glass on my '95 suburban doesn't seem so sit correctly against the body. I loosened the nuts on the hinges and was able to push it a little, but it still doesn't seem right. Based on the paint on the hinges bolts and nuts, I don't think anything had been adjusted previously.

Is this normal? Is there a way to adjust it? Before I tried to adjust the hinges, the pin for the latch didn't line up well with the latch. It's a little better now but not enough to satisfy the wife. Thanks for any input.

Mine is shuffled over to one side. But is flush.

I wonder if the tail-gate has an adjustment proceedure ?

My problem is that the switch on the dash does not pop the glass up anymore and the actuator is working correctly. The key in the lock doesn't pop the glass up either. It used to work that way which is how it is designed.

I have asked on a few different Suburban/Yukon/Blazer web forums about adjustment procedure and have gotten no where.

I ended up playing with the glass hatch catch, moving it up and down and found the sweet spot were the push away cam pops the glass!

I've searched and searched on the www, but have been totally unable to find anything useful. The only thing that seems possible is loosening hinges, adjusting, then retightening. There isn't a lot of adjustment though, unless there's a specific way it has to be done.

I'm purely speculating here, as I don't have a Suburban. But, could the hinges have been sprung/bent too far upward at some point? Maybe by a gust of wind or something? I don't think the lift struts would allow it, but that seems so far off that something may be bent.

Any chance you could examine another Sub at a pick-a-part yard to compare your hinges with those?

Just my .02, good luck!
Matt

What I found on my 94 Yukon was that the glass was seperating from the steel frame on the inside.
Something I ran into looking for a different hatch was that there were 2 different length struts used. If your truck has the wrong struts or wrong hatch, it would cause it to buckle like that. If it was replaced, you may be able to tell by removing a piece of the interior plastic trim to see if the steel color matches the body color.

Now that I look closer, this is definitely part of the problem. More separation towards the top, which is why it sticks out farther at top.
