Iam searching for smooth fender flares for my '03 crew cab. Color is unimportant. The black textured ones on my truck, are driving my crazy, not to mention, when you get alittle wax on them.........the are very hard to clean!

From what I understand, it takes alot of sanding and prep work to paint a textured flare, thus costing alot to paint! It's probably just as cheap and quicker to get a set that is ready to be painted. I just missed an auction on Ebay, I think they went for $160.00, not bad IMO! Thanks.

Yep, the 'rough' flares irrate me too! Especially when GM puts these cheap things on an SLT! IMHO, the W/T and base models are the only ones which should have the 'rough' flares. Guess I'll be sanding and painting mine eventually.

There are a few of them on Ebay right now. I searched "Silverado flares" and came up with 3 that described as "smooth"

As for removing the wax on the current ones, the cheapest, easiest way someone described was to use peanut butter. I guess it works....

I've tried it with poor results when used by itself. I've found that the removal comes a few days later when all the dogs in the neighborhood start licking your flares.

Duramaxdad,

You are correct that a set just went on ebay for $160; I was the high bidder and I am having problems with the seller; does not return phone calls; does not respond to email; gave me a phone number that does not match an address; address does not seem to exist in the databases; so I have not sent the money order and am starting to get a bad feeling about that sale; seller was a new user; no history, no feedback; I was thinking when I bid on them, "well everyone needs to start somewhere here", myself included; I will let you know how it works out.

Man, that sux!! Atleast you didn't send any money, that would have really sucked. I have been looking for smooth factor flares for a while, there just aren't that many around. I might just have to go the dealer route. They have them for $183.00 per set already painted.
