OKay so I have a 2006 8.1 van and my rear end is a 3.73 and has 295k miles on it.

I have a whole 4.10 G80 rear end with only 108k miles from a 2002 laying around, it has the same mounts but otherwise very different - brake lines, emergency brake lines, no ABS, drum brakes.

I want the 4.10 for better towing, and I want the locker because I am tired of getting stuck with trailer whenever my wheel hits grass with this 1WD.

What would it take to open up both rear end covers and swap out the gears? Since I am swapping the whole thing, is it a direct swap or I would need to adjust the backlash? Will it even fit?
I'm experienced with vehicles but never worked on rear ends before!

OKay, so the 2002 is GM 10.5" 14 Bolt, and my 2006 is 12 bolt Dana 60S (read from the sticker on the axle) semi-floater, looks very different.
I would assume that means the carriers are not swappable, am I right?

Do I have any options to make it a 4.10 locker?

id look for an other rear end [complete]from a same year van

go on ''car-part.com'',,but you need to know a bunch of option codes and 9.75 or 10.50 gear,,most of the 10.50 rears are 3.73 ratio

you will have $1,000+ adding posi and 4.10 gears to yours [if using new parts]

just get a grizzly locker with the gears you want...

Sell the 14bolt 02 axle and re gear yours with a good limited slip or locker.
The 14 van axle is popular in the 4x4 world as its wider than the pickup axles so it will sell easy enough
