Pump rub fix: No dowel pins, upside down reluctor gear?

Yesterday I started to install Merchant-Automotive's Transfer Case Pump Rub Kit. The instructions say that reluctor gear should be installed with the stepped edge facing towards the pump (down). However, when I first opened mine the stepped edge was facing away from the pump (up). Did someone assemble my TC wrong or does the MA pump body require you to flip the reluctor gear?

Another thing, I can see the bored out holes where the two dowel pins are supposed to go but my TC didn't have the pins when I cracked it open.
Is there anywhere I can buy them?

By the looks of the bolts around the perimeter of the case it looks like one of the trucks previous owners has been inside and apparently Censored ing things up.

Transfer case is a push button from a 2003 2500HD (see sig).

The merchant kit does not require you flip the reluctor gear for installation. It goes back in the same way as stock. Sounds like someone else who didn't know what they were doing had it apart. The pins should be there, sometimes they stick in the opposite case half. If they are gone it's even more proof someone else had it apart. Or they put in a rebuilt TC, there have been some pretty poor quality rebuilts reported here in the past.

I wouldn't think they would be too hard to come by. If the dealer doesn't have them contact merchant, they probably have a few trashed cases laying around with a couple of pins.

Hey I emailed back this Morning. I had my transfer case guy look and his bin for them is empty. He did search around and came up with 1 spare. More than happy to ship it to you no cost on the pin, you cover shipping.
But you may be just as far ahead to check a dealer by you.... either way let me know nick@merchant-automotive.com

Thanks for the offer Nick! However, I ended up getting a pair from a gutted transfer case at a junk yard.
