has anyone ever just taken the injectors out and dissasembled them and cleaned the nozzles and soaked the parts in injector cleaner? i know a jewler that could probably clean the nozzles ultrasonically. Im just trying to save money rather then buying new nozzles. and im aware of how small the parts are and not to lose the little tiny puck that sits under the needle.

My LB7 used to shake at idle when warmed up. I did a balance test and it says 1 injector is out of specs but not enough to set a code. My dealer said I needed new injectors again. I had them replaced under warranty at 99,000, now I have 204,000 miles. Supposed to be better injectors this time? They claim the rebuilts they put in had the parts that wear replaced with better parts from Bosh. Anyway I don't know if thats true or not. But I was telling a old truck driver about this problem he said when his trucks start running ruff they would put ATF in the fuel for a couple of tanks and it would clean them up. I tried it about a pint per tank full, I use Dex 3 ATF and it took about 5 or more tank fulls but worked. It idles smooth now again. I haven't replaced the injectors nor do I want to at $2500.00 I have tried all different brands of Diesel cleaners none worked all that ever worked was the ATF fluid. It will make you exhaust stink and smoke a little more but it worked for me. I don't have any smog equipment on my truck, no converter or dif filter. I don't know if you should use it on a newer truck that has all that stuff on it? I don't know what it would do? Anyway hope this helps.

Your rough idle is normally caused by a sticking FPRV. Putting some oil in the tank will lube it and normally solve the problem temporarily. The oil didn't have anything to do with the injectors. BTW, people usually use 2-stroke oil, never heard of using ATF.

I have tried on a couple lly injectors, and it didn't work. I checked return rates before and after cleaning. There was no improvement. I can get it to work on common rail cummins injectors. I fixed two hard starting dodge trucks by cleaning the tips with brake cleaner. I have also tried the GM cleaner on an LBZ with high return rates and hard starting. I even let it sit for three days with cleaner in the fuel system because of an airlock. No improvement on that truck. The theory is good, but it seems that Duramax injectors wear out rather than get dirty.
