Lowering running boards?

We've just picked up our new GMC diesel dually and we're wondering if anyone makes a kit to lower the running Boards? We're retired and stepping up into these new trucks is hard. The missus is just a bit over 5' tall and it's really hard for her to climb in. If no kits are available has anyone just built their own? We would appreciate any ideas!

Sell those on craigslist and get you some AMP steps..they lower automatically when the door opens and they also make extensions if you want them lower, and unlike the factory rail, the AMP steps are very ergonomic...they are about $1k, but I love mine.

is amp making them for the 17s yet?

I called AMP Research and they said they will be releasing their steps for the 2017 around Christmas time.

Son-in-law has just installed Amp boards on his 2016 Duramax SLT. I did not measure them, but they are definitely lower than stock.
