Low Coolant light

It only happens when the temperature is below 20 but the first start of the day I get a low coolant light. The dealership was supposed to check it but I don't think they did. I have checked the coolant and it appears to be OK. Anyone else have this? Is it something to get checked again?

I have had to add coolant twice to my 17 so far, and about a month ago the truck was parked on a steep hill and the warning came on. Moved the truck and it went off. I only added about a quart each time, told dealer and as I figured they said its normal. Hasn't been normal for my 04 that ive never added in 14 years! [except for changing of course]

It's at the Full Cold Mark? Or it looks just OK? You do know how to check it?

If it's at this level then you need a new Engine Coolant Recovery TANK because your coolant level sensor comes with it.

TANK, Engine Coolant Recovery, TANK,RADIATOR SURGE(INCLUDES LEVEL SENSOR)

My 07.5 has done this since new, usually after I hit a speed bump too hard. I think the sensor is momentarily uncovered, and triggers the code.

I had the low coolant light come on as well, 8,000 miles on my L5P. It was -15 degrees outside on startup and it looked a little low, so I added some, and overfilled about 1/4inch above fill arrows on tank. My OCD has kicked in, does that little bit extra gonna hurt or not being over the fill mark?

Mine has come on a couple times too. I wonder why these trucks would leave the factory with the coolant not topped off

I have a 2018 3500 Duramax and have only owned it for 3 months. This is my first diesel truck. The "Coolant Level is low" warning came on this morning. Is this typical for a brand new truck? I have never had this happen with a vehicle that is that new. I don't know if diesels burn up the coolant or if there is a problem with my truck. I just had it serviced on Tuesday and the dealer didn't say if the level was low either. Shouldn't they be checking that on an oil change and "multipoint inspection"?

I have been fighting this issue for 2 years now. I get the notice low coolant but the bottle is fine.
Last 2 days at the dealer, and they replaced the bottle assy. As the sensor is all one part, thinking that the sensor was bad, so replaced the bottle assy., and sent me on my way. See how it goes now for a month or two.
If not MGMR. is seeing if GM will buy it back.

I have been getting a low coolant light many times a day during the last 3 weeks. Coolant is full. Sometimes the low coolant message will come on every thirty minutes, sometimes it won't do it for a day or two. Time to bring it in.

I see this is only for 2017 model year.

Condition
A customer may comment on a coolant leak, coolant consumption or of a low coolant message being displayed on the Driver's Information Center (DIC).

Cause
This may be due to cooling system leaks or an improper coolant fill procedure.

It may take a few engine temperature cycles (from operating temperature to cold) for the coolant level to show a lower than normal level.

Be sure to complete the current SI coolant system leak checks and verify there are no external leaks.

Reference the locations below to aid in locating external coolant leaks.

If no external leaks are found, refill the cooling system following SI procedures for filling the cooling system.

Evaluate coolant levels after a proper coolant fill is completed.

Correction
If the diagnosis has lead to external coolant leaks or a coolant loss concern check for leaks in the following areas:

Please be aware of the following if there is a need to pressure test the cooling system:

Note: The radiator surge tank uses two different radiator surge tank caps. The radiator surge tank cap that vents pressure in the event of excessive cooling system pressure is located on the lower outboard side of the radiator surge tank (2). The radiator surge tank cap that is located on top of the radiator surge tank (1) is where the cooling system is filled and where pressure testing equipment is to be mounted.

Caution: The cap mounted to the top of the surge tank uses LEFT HAND threads. Turn the cap clockwise to remove the cap or counter clockwise to install the cap. Failure to turn the cap in the proper direction when installing or removing it may cause damage to the cap and/or the surge tank.

Refer to Cooling System Leak Testing (L5P) for more information.

My 2017 Denali with 23k miles had the coolant light come on (second time in about 5-8k miles), dropped it off at dealer yesterday. Last time I took it in they said they had to purge the system. This time seemed weird as I haven't seen any coolant leaking and it wasn't that long ago since it was just in.

Got a call that they think it's a blown head gasket. Waiting to hear back now on next procedure.

My coolant tank was replaced several weeks ago, all is good with that now.
