today i noticed that at idel in gear that i was getting white smoke seemed to be only when in gear my dad said it was mostiure took a scanner and check balance rates and all looked ok except 3 it was at like 10-11

Sounds like #3 is way out. Seems +-4 in parked and idle and +-6 in idle, parking brake set, and in drive. You can try replacing #3 but then another would be throwing itself out. I say if you tear into it to replace injectors on LB7 do them all with new return seals too. Then test them and see if it throws the other side way off. If it does do them. May be warrantied but need to have it checked to see if it meets all the require items to be injector replacement.

Yeah, either its a bad injector, or your down on compression on that cyl.

Did you put your stock tune back in?

If you have a tune loaded some will read high like 9 or 10.

ok well no tune in and smoking worse going to put some 2 stroke oil see if that dose any thing till i can get it to the dealer

well took my truck to the dealer and it wasnt smoking then and they told me they couldnt find any thing wrong with it .then the service writer and i started talking and he said that if the injectors had been replace which mine had been at 80xxx that they coulnt be bad because they put in a revised injector. i told him that alot of people on here have had several sets and he just told me no they didnt

Was your truck at operating temperature when you checked the balance rates? Does it only smoke at idle? I had just a sinlge injector that was way out that caused mine to smoke.

I too only have one injector that is in the bad range and it is smoking. It has never smoked this bad. Anyone think winter blend causes them to smoke more?

Mine has started smoking a bit. Dropped it off this morning to have some tests done while I'm at work.
The smoking started out only while in gear at idle. It's slowly gotten worse, and seems to be at low RPMs now. There's a little black residue in the coolant resevoir now as well. I'll see if the tests at the stealer show signs of anything else after work today, and hopefully I'll have a better idea of what I'm going to need on the parts/tool list to get started on it.
The smoking is also only after it warms up. When she's still cold there's no smoking at all.

left my truck at the dealer last night get a call today that it is the pcm that is going out and part alone $1075 took it to them for white smoke and i had a cyl 3 misfire yesterday they told me one out of a diff truck wont work either

If it is the PCM then i look at aftermarket like one from say Nick from Duramaxtuner. Many others that can configure a PCM for you as well that do EFILive tuning.
