Hi all,

I was just searching through the large auction website...and found a company with surplus Hummv 6.5L turbo longblocks. It's item number 220199115739 Page 2 if you just search 6.5L diesel. Now this should be the best block available, correct? I know it's used and they say anywhere from 10k to 40k miles, but for $1,500 that just sounds like a bargain given all the recent discussions of finding a true AMG block.
Now is this too good to be true?

It sounds a little too good to be true. I'm not trying to be skeptical, just cautious.

How did they get the blocks if they were military take-outs?
Do they offer proof that they are from the military H1's?
How do we know these aren't "flood recoveries" from Katrina?

Again I question how they got them from the military. I'm not saying it's not possible it just that it would seem the military would sell this stuff in lots. Maybe they bought a whole container of them.

Be cautious.

What is the difference in the engine block? Are there any other differences? I noticed they listed some on the auction site; oil cooler connection in block has larger threads and oil pan is deaper. Can anyone confirm that Hummv blocks have these larger threads? I think I am going to need to rebuild my motor and this is about the same price as the engine kit. I am going to put together a list of thing to ask them and give them a call. I would love to get input on questions to ask.

Thats not an AMG block. Ask for a pic of the casting number. It could even be a late 6.2 but I believe that is a 6.5, GM nothing special.

As far as I know the army is not pulling 6.5's unless there is something wrong with them, but we've pulled thousands of good running 6.2's for repower to the AMG 6.5's.
