I know someone that enlarged the inlet and outlet holes and JB welded it to their new exhaust. I think there was a set screw on the top side to keep it fixed in place. The JB looked just like welds and as far as I know is still in place years after installation.
You don't say.....
Eventually, the
JB Weld flaked off. (NE Ohio, lots of salty winters...)
But, it turns out I never really needed it. In Ohio, my experience has been that the chance of them rolling the mirror under the truck to look is less than 50%. In addition, if I had just left the seam open, they wouldn't have noticed. Plus, the cat makes ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE on how I blow on my "E-Check" (strangely, I get 0% opacity every time. Equipment problem? I dunno, but it's not my problem...

)
With the Dmax, I am not going this route. For the 6.5 there really wasn't a choice. Considering you can swap the cat pipe back and forth pretty easily on a 6.6, I am keeping my cat whole and just swapping it in when I go "on road" or for an e-check :lol:
That said, if MBRP or another vendor made a cat delet pipe that included some sort of can that looked anything like it might be a cat, I would buy it and take my chances "on the road" and at e-check time....
Regardless, JB WELD RULES for all sorts of things.....:muahaha:
