EGR Codes and the WD-40 method

The following codes are appearing on my truck:
DTC 32 - EGR Circuit Error
DTC 33 - EGR Control Pressure/Baro Sensor Circuit High

I've searched the forum and read about a "WD-40" method for keeping EGR and related parts working, albeit many consider it a temporary fix. If it is temp, it is fine- I intend to buy an "F" intake and remove the EGR altogether in a couple of months. Until then, I might want to spray the WD-40, if it indeed is a quick fix.

What do I spray? The top picture shows the EGR valve and the bottom picture shows EGR solenoids. Which gets the blast? Thanks. Jon

Pull vac lines from solenoids & spray in them

His would be a chip OBD-I vs reflash OBD-II

Thanks for the help!

On my truck I need to use a new chip. I will be installing Heath's replacement chip, once I find a reasonably priced "F" intake (upper and lower). Until then, I'd like to use a temp. fix so the codes stop showing up.

Turbine Doc: Thanks again for those great pictures you took- I refer to them on a daily (and today, on an hourly!) basis.

The following codes are appearing on my truck:
DTC 32 - EGR Circuit Error
DTC 33 - EGR Control Pressure/Baro Sensor Circuit High
DTC 45 - EGR vent fault

Method of the “WD-40” can be used to help to decide the problem above related. as to discover what this causing the codigos of imperfection with EGR

:) The following codes are appearing on my truck:
DTC 31 - EGR control vacuum too high
DTC 32 - EGR Circuit Error
DTC 33 - EGR Control Pressure/Baro Sensor Circuit High
DTC 45 - EGR vent fault

Method of the “WD-40” can be used to help to decide the problem above related. as to discover what this causing the codigos of imperfection with EGR

I can disable the EGR system. :)

Hi Reneu,

There appear to be several strategies for dealing with EGR codes, including disabling and/or removing the EGR altogether. For the latter, removal of the EGR is tricky but from what I have read, many people do it by replacing the intake from an "S" model to an "F" model. The F intake has no EGR, but will require some additional steps, such as a new chip (the site vendors all sell compatible chips). Furthermore, some replace both upper and lower intakes, and others replace the upper and block the lower with a "freeze plug". Finally, some just keep their "S" upper intake and hollow it out for better flow and do the freeze plug/EGR removal trick. So a search and you will see that there is a lot of information about it.

I think there is some debate about how well blocking the vacuum line to the EGR works for disabling it. Some report that their car continues to throw codes (like yours) after a reset, and others report no codes, no problems.

I do : but some of the newbies may not ;) so we have to think about total readership when we post
