How about B___L S__t. Blankets hold in heat. Do you put on a blanket to cool off?

What....? Do you even know what you are talking about?

thats so against common sense I am not sure if I am reading it correctly.

Is he trying to say that by putting a blanket on your turbo you will stop engine heat from affecting your turbo? Or you will insulate turbo heat from affecting your engine? regardless I dont see how more heat makes your turbo spool faster.

either way i'm with newdmax waving the bs flag.

All I can think of is that it directs the radiant heat down and out the exhaust system rather than allowing it to remain in the engine compartment. Thinking as I type... if the turbo is water cooled (is it? I think I've heard there is some cooling around it somewhere), if you can somehow manage the heat to direct it away rather than just allow that downpipe to radiate all that heat, theoretically it might help keep the turbo a bit cooler; but I think it's a stretch.

I can't imagine it would do what this guy is claiming... I think this falls in the snake oil category, along with those air intake things that are supposed to cause your air to spin therefore improve mileage, increase horsepower, add zip to your little 4 cylinder car, bring harmony to the universe, make the lion and lamb lay down together, and provide a chicken in every pot and a check in every wallet.

i think its the same idea as wrapping your exhaust/headers to keep the heat traveling down the sxhaust instead of heating up everything, it actually should help keep temps down

Basically, that's it. "Blankets" and other types of coverings have been in use for years in transit and power gen. More so now, since nat gas has taken over both of the above mentioned markets.
All it does is keep unwanted heat out of the engine compartment. They do not affect the operation of the engine.

Blankets retain heat which would otherwise radiate from the exhaust system. The more heat which can be retained in the exhaust system, the more energy available to drive the turbo.

I made a blanket for a STS system I had on a gasser before I bought a diesel. It definately made the turbo spool faster, but this was on a remote mounted turbo system.

Hot air expands, if you keep all the heat in the housing rather than letting it radiate out, it keeps velocity up, spooling the turbo faster and dropping egt's on the top end. If you really think this is a "snake oil" product or is just b_ll Sh_t as a couple of you say. There is a money back guarantee on ebay, it's ridiculous to label something as b_ll sh!t just because you don't understand how it works. Look on CompetitionDiesel in Dominator's forum, there are people on there who know these are legit.
