On this 96 K2500 code f eng, code P1214D comes on, doesn't turn on mil though. The scan tool I'm using reads TDC at -2.5. I have tried to get it to relearn TDC offset, but the genysis scan tool I'm using will not do it. Is there a way for it to relearn without a scanner? Will it be a problem if I leave it the way it is? The truck runs and starts excellent.

Look in Reference and FAQ's for method of resetting TDCO with Ign switch and the accelerator pedal, do that, then observe it again with the scanner.

If it is still about there, rotate the IP 1mm to passenger-side, lock it down, do the switch procedure again, observe the result.

Cruise and other stuff won't function with any DTC.

That "B" code should trigger the SES\MIL, as it is a basic IP timing malfunction - only thing that should clear it is scanner or resetting timing.

Might not indicate at idle, but should as rpm increases, as it indicates too much advance.

'A' indicates the MIL will illuminate on the first cold-start, 'B' indicates the MIL will illuminate after the second cold start, unless the condition has cleared.

The diagnostic is run after a timing procedure has been done, so you'll probably never see it on a driven-in vehicle - unless the owner didn't finish reading the Reference and FAQ's, here.................
