I've got a friend trying to buy one of my Kodiaks right now and he is having a hard time getting financed at credit unions or banks. The banks are saying they won't do it because it's a commercial truck, so I'm wondering if anyone got their trucks financed recently and maybe direct him to that bank?

Our Credit Union financed ours as an RV toter no questions asked. One phone call to apply and one call for drafting instructions.

Do you have a contact person and a number possibly? How did they come up with the value on the truck since there is no blue book on it?

My credit union and banks would only finance my Kodiak for the C/C value. They would not finance the Monroe conversion or any aftermarket add ons. If there is a big difference in the C/C value and what your asking price is it could be hard to get it financed. My dealer said all the ones he sells new are financed by Chevy with no problems. Used is the kicker.

If he has good credit>look into "Blank check" type loans
Capitol One has them for Auto's
They just pre-approve you for a certain amount and you can write the check for what ever you want

any federal credit bank will finance about anything.

Try All Roads Capital, or RV Lending Group. That's what they do, I went through ARC, then the note went to Home Savings and Loan. Did everything over the phone, used vehicle, worked out fine. They also finance long term like motorhomes. Either company can be found on the net.

Just wanted to bump this up, i keep running into places that wont finance it because they cant find the trucks on NADA anyone get around this? The one place did offer to finance the truck under a misc loan but the rates are higher, but they then don't have a mileage cap. The truck im looking at has 215k on it.

Did you try financing it as an RV? Tell the bank/C.U. you are pulling your 5th wheel with it.

Tried that too, they just say its not on the NADA RV list then they cant do it.
Pretty narrow minded procedures. I wonder who at NADA needs to be convinced to add another category. Honestly all trucks that don't require a CDL should be listed on NADA at the very least.

I went to my credit union, but they needed convincing, and an appraisal since there isn't a recognized nada, or blue book type value. Insurance was tricky too since my daily insurance company wouldn't do it since classified as a commercial vehicle, my classic car insurance Chubb insured it with no problem and a better rate.

What did the CU classify it as in the end RV?
