I have the truck in my shop. This is an '06 GMC 4dr dualli, black. This is one beautifull truck. Driving it is very smooth, quiet, and feels like it has a lot of grunt . Ally shifts very nicely, the shifts are extended out a little further in the rpm range as compared to what I am used to. I had to buy a Vetronix Candi module to comunicate with this truck. You guys with a Tech 2 get ready to spend some money if you want to play. I have not done any testing on this truck yet, but will report info as I see it. I will be tearing down the Ally Monday for testing and seeing what can be done with it.
I have been fortunate to have had an '06 Dodge Cummins, an '06 Ford PSD, and now the GMC Duramax for trans mods in my shop the last couple of weeks. These new trucks are impressive and I liked every one of them. Funny they are all dualli's so I had a good comparison. My favorite hands down is the GMC Duramax. Power is better, ride smoother, cab quieter, interior more comfortable. I do not tow mind you and this is a personal evaluation. IMHO GM built a kick-a$$ truck, best of the bunch. More info will be coming soon.

Sorry Mike,

They are your sheep, so "yew" take all the glory.

Don't get pushy mr. rolleyes or I will email powerglide pictures to you. ):h I am tearing the new trans down monday. I called Patrick ( owner ) and made sure I got permission. I do not make any moves on peoples trucks without clear understanding. If someone tore my truck down without my ok, there would be hell to pay. Meanwhile, we have some fun.

Unless it is trippin... :muahaha:

I remember him finding his converter was different one time...

Don't worry, I was just hoping to cause an update such as you just posted... That's all. Just don't send powerglide pictures... :help2:

We need a pic of a black GMC with the engine out of it to Email Patrick . . . That'll be good for a near-heartattack.

Hey Mike,
This is great news! Enjoy the tear down and rebuild! Sounds like fun and if I lived anywhere close, I'd request the opportunity to meet you and "observe". However ... that's not going to work out at this time. Would it be possible for you to document what the new P/N's are on the 6-speed during the tear down (referencing a 5-speed repair manual)? I'd like to fully understand what is new and different. My suspicions are that not much will have changed. ... anyway, this is simply a request. Again, enjoy and we can't wait for pictures and your evaluation. THANKS!

And while you're in there, Mike, make sure you tell us where to put that piece of wire, gob of putty and paperclip to turn our 5 speeds into a 6 speed!!;)

Mike,

Is it possible to take side by side pics of the differences between the 5 and 6 speed???

I don't care what everyone, and the sheep, say about you, you're all right.

I have heard that the six speed ally is the same as the five speed ally just programmed differently. Also heard that it is possisble to turn your five speed into a six speed as long as your ally has a pressure control solenoid. If you do have the solenoid all you need is a program. If not you can put in a solenoid, change harness and program and you have a six speed. Is this too good to be true?

The valve body in the '06 is completely different and does not have the G solenoid ( pressure control ).
Right, but will the '06 valve body bolt up to the 5-speed trannys (I'm assuming it's a bolt-on unit)? Do they have the same bolt pattern, sealing areas, and passage locations and destinations? That's important to me for 5-to-6 speed conversion intel. Let us know. Not intending to thread-jack ... carry on! Any pics posted yet?
