I had a circ failure glow plug 8 is what mey edge told me,I heard that the tip can break off and cause havoc, are the plugs easy to change or should I have my dealer do it,also which one is number 8?/thanks for your help

Just replaced #3 in mine and only took about 30 minutes. #8 I believe is driver's side so you might have steering components that will take you a bit longer (someone who has done that side will comment I am sure).

This might help too for reference:

Pretty sure it's last one drivers side. Opposite firing order of a GM 350.

Glow Plug Misfire???

My truck threw a code for #4 cylinder glow plug misfire :confused:I pulled all 8 wires and tested from battery to all eight and got good solid readings (all tested Good) as per the attached youtube video. Was told to just use a test light but if I'm only using the GP as a ground source I figured what could be the difference. Anyway, with all 8 testing good what could be the deal with the misfire code? I cleared the code and will see if it comes back but would like to get some opinions.

Thanks

Not even sure which code it was. I reset it and will see if it comes back. After I checked all the plugs and all tested good I didn't see a need to change anything right now. I have the replacement and will be sure to get the code if the light comes back on.

Just changed the #4 glow plug on my 07 LBZ, it was very easy... removed the inner fenderwell to make it easier.... that took longer to do then replacing the glow plug.

Just replaced all 8 on my LBZ. I removed the fender liners and the innercooler pipe on the drivers side. I soaked them with PB Blaster real good before and during. I had a few that were pretty tight but came out without issue. I used variety of sockets, wrenches, and ratcheting wrenches to get them out. Basically anything that would get on the glowplug the best. Had to go to the local parts store to have the code cleared. Pretty easy job actually.

I just changed #4 yesterday and it was a slight bit of pain but the other 7 don't look like a problem at all after removing the fender covers. I have lots of pics that I'll post after photobucket helps me get in to my account.

I have had to replace #8 for a while now, but now I just saw today #4 is throwing the same code. Think all will do this? Should I just replace all 8 and be good? Around 120k miles on the truck and all stock plugs

Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks

As for cylinder #s it's supposed to be opposite of a GM 350 from what I have read.

Got a couple of problems with truck and am throwing number 2 and 3 cylinder codes. What is the cylinder numbering? I am going to replace them tomorrow

Posting my own answer from another thread on same topic

According to another member:
the cylinders are numbered starting from the passenger front 1-3-5-7 and the driver's front 2-4-6-8

When you say fast idle do you mean the elevated idle that happens when its cold?

Confused on the idle deal. Mine was giving me a #4 misfire code. I reset the code to see if it would come back, it did. I changed #4 and after a few trips around town, the CEL light went off on it's own and all is well.
