To my knowledge from vehicle reports, dealer records and looking for any possible sign of repaint/damage (which there is none)...I have an emblem issue that was just pointed out to me. How I never noticed...I'll never know because I have an eye for details like that.

My driver "Duramax" emblem on the 02 is on the forward edge of the 2500HD emblem. On the pass side...its to the rear of the 2500HD emblem. I'm assuming forward is correct.

Did GM ever goof on this detail? I've seen Fords and Dodges that had the wrong trim level emblems on maybe one place on the trucks. But never on a GM.

I understand private body work takes place and goes unreported...but there is simply no evidence of the typical signs of re-paint or repair. And all the paint is uniform. All I can guess is that it was an error. Or the original fell off and someone goofed.

no they all are that way.

I checked your garage and the driver's side is correct, but the pass is side is the side that is wrong. you might be able to pull it off and restick it, but it's a toss-up.

Here the pass side. I'm gonna use fishing line to remove it and WD40 to get the tape off. Then use 3M trim double sided tape just like the new ones use...the thin black stuff.

So this is correct? Not correct?

GM Does screw up.... I have seen a tahoe with "Tahoe" on one side and "yukon" on the other.

I think papuller is meaning that the method is correct, not the placement of the emblem. Hope you can get it to stick back on...just dont stick it on crooked lol

my bad i should have checked out your pics first. yea that is wrong place

I have noticed some D-Max emblems like you mentioned too and was thinking the same thing.

Hold on, hold on......I think some people are confusing which side of the truck is in the picture you posted. According to the pics in your garage, your driver side is correct, your passenger side is incorrect.

You could have posted either side of your truck and that pic you posted would be the same.

well both same as posed above if thats the drivers side door then it is correct, if its the pass side door then its wrong

Not to confuse...but that is the passenger side. I mentioned in my original post that I was under the impression the passenger side was wrong...and the picture is of the passenger side.

Regardless of which door it is on...the photo shows an error of the emblem placement.

I guess besides the right placement or method to fix...I was really wondering if this is a GM error that has been seen before on any trucks known to never be damaged. Or maybe if the emblems are known to fall off and someone stuck a new one on mine in error.

I once had a GM dealer repair my Z71 door and the body side trim moulding was 1/2" higher where it met the other door trim. It was so obvious that it was like I had a giant flourescent green star plastered on the side of the truck. Same effect. Yet they "didn't notice". They also didn't notice the 4" diameter dent at the bottom of the door (deer accident) and applied new paint and clearcoat right over it. Sometimes people amaze me.

What I didn't know about the duramax emblems was how they were applied at the factory. With an alignment jig or else the badges are held together by a common backing...meaning there is no way a factory could make a mistake because all emblem kits are identical. Or if one guy put one on...and the next guy down the line put the other on where ever they saw fit.
