anyone try the Good Year Wrangler SilentArmor out yet? I will be needing tires soon and was looking at the silent armors. I drive mostly on road but need something good in the snow for plowing.

Thanks in advance.

I had some on my wife's yukon, and when we sold that, I put them on my Dad's 1500 sierra. IIRC there are about 40k miles on them, mostly highway, and they aren't looking like they will make it past 50k

I have a set and really like them. They came with a 50k mile treadwear warranty so I figured I couldn't lose. They aren't the most agressive tire, but they look good and got me through some sand when I was towing my Jeep and I am 2WD. I was pleased.

I have the 285s on mine now. it's a great tire IMO. they typically wear well, they do ride smooth (even with being just static balanced) and still look decent.

I picked those over the BFG KOs (probably the best AT on the market) only because I know the Silent Armors will last longer.

IMO, you can't go wrong with them. they have very good traction in most any scenario and probably will do ok offroad (but that's what my custom S10 is for :D )

I just ordered a set from The Tire Rack, I hope they are as good as the user ratings say they are.

Thank you for the helpful information. Any one take the Silent Armors in the snow yet?
Yup. Work very well. I have the 265s on mine. They are pricey but worth it. My truck does everthing with them. Daily drive in all kinds of weather. I also sled pull, drag race , burnouts, and tow a goose neck. Have a little over 40k on them right know. Not sure if they make 50k. That is not their fault. Fourth gear slipper clutch burnouts are murder on them.:D

yep, just today in fact. only a couple inches, but seem to do pretty well so far. I think the Revos are a little better snow tire, but the Wrangler Silent Armor has a hellava stronger sidewall so you can play a little more if you choose to ;)

I'm happy with them so far and most of my customers have been as well (I work for Discount Tire in Illinois)

Kevin, I have the Silent Armors in a 285/75/16, they are probable one of the best tires I have owned. Living in MN, the snow and ice was my main concern too! Great tire in the snow and wet weather. I have had many brands of tires over the years, the BFG all-terrains also work very well in snow, but ride much stiffer and like to pick-up rocks if you drive dirt roads.

I have about 20,000 miles on them and honestly don't see them making it to 50,000! Thats about the only down fall I see at this point. Overall I would still highly recommend the Silent Armors. Hope this helps????

Great tire, I have over 40k on mine and they still have good traction in the snow, they will make it 50k easy. My only complaint is that they took quite a bit of weight to balance. Other than that, great tire, I would buy another set in a second.
