What kind of trailer connector do you have?

On the truck the yellow is left, dk green is right, brown is tail lamps, lt green is backup lights.

Trailer plugs can be different depending on what type of plug you have and someone could have wired it not to standard code.

the trailer connector on the truck is a six prong, the one on the trailer is a four prong.

some of the parts stores do sell adapters for that. otherwise buy a test lite grab some paper and test each wire for its function , do them one at a time. right turn, left turn=brake lites. ground circuit , electric trailer brakes, clearence lites. backup lites, 12v acc. to trailer.
