Rumor is, runnig the high idle after a while will hurt the tranny. A -40, nothing warms up fast enough.

no its fine. The allison pumps fluid in park/neutral so I dont see any reason why it would hurt it.

Allison recommends using TranSynd where temps go below -40 F/C. It's less viscous at lower temperatures so it will flow a little quicker. Otherwise it should be fine.

I live outside Fairbanks and after my torque converter went out, the dealer told me not to use high idle anymore until they figure out the issues. At least four other trucks had the same problems. Supposedly Allison is working it.

i have never heard anything concerning this. i wouldnt worry about it. just my 2 cents.

I had the TSB done and two days later the converter went out. Same with other trucks. The dealer told GM pending further guidance, they are no longer performing the TCM re-program. They are supposed to call me once Allison gives them direction. Until then, no high idle.
