Welcome to DieselPlace

I would grab a glass jar or clear container and take a sample of Diesel from your tank and let it sit for a few hours to settle, to rule out water contamination before replacing the sensor.

since the sensor is more and likely normally open I would just unplug it and see if the light goes out and the sensor are traditional located on the bottom of the fuel filter.

On all my stuff, Cat, Cummins, Duramax, etc... unplugging the sensor makes the light go out.
Have you tried unplugging it?
