Oil cooler lines and check out the shape of the oil filter housing (if you're a 4x4).

If you have an automatic tranny, it bolts to the end of the crankshaft, and connects the engine to the torque converter, it is also used to turn over the engine with the starter upon start up. Big metal circle type pan with a teeth ring on the outside.

U joints? T-case make sure is nice and sealed up.
Agree, since everything is out, spend the money and get all seals replaced, might as well it won't cost that much more.

how much would a new transmission cost, just out of curiosity..

Well, so far, free for them to tell me its an internal problem

$325 for them to remove tranny, open her up, and tell me what is needed next.

I was quoted 1500 = 2000. (to me that always means the higher number)

If you didn't know, All forward gears worked great, no reverse. (can't positively tell you weather I had 1st or not. ) It DID drive well in selecter on 1 on shifter. To me thats first.
