Bought my truck in July '06. I have been working to turn it into a sled puller. So far I have a Banks Six-Gun. In the next couple of weeks I will be adding a SBC Dual Disc clutch an intake and an exhaust. I know to pull in low range, but what gear should i use? Any suggestions???

I run 4th low on most tracks. On loose or slippery tracks I ran 2nd high. With the Six-gun I do not know if it has enough to pull 4th low. You will want to look into a tuner that will let the truck rev harder. As the 3200 rpm rev limit will kill your chances. On a good hook I am carring 3400-3500rpm down the track! To do that I have come out at around 4500rpm.

Will stock valve train sustain that, or are you running aftermarket springs? I know a bunch of guys are turning those kinds of R's, but most of them are running tweeked motors.

That depends on who you talk to!;) I been well over 4000 rpm many times. Pulling, Drag Racing, and even street driving. That is not just me either. Others with the ZF6 are doing the samething. Fact of life to pull with a manaul you need that RPM. Yes my Topend is all stock. I do plan on upgrading the vavletrain for this coming season.
