I have a 04 DMax w/ 72000mi, mostly stock. Running a leveled front and Hypertech. I unfortunatly will be doing the cursory task of a front wheel hub/bearing. I am wondering if anyone out there has tried to rebuild one of these units? I have been reading other threads reguarding this topic, but have not read any about trying to rebuild this troublesome engineering.

In the event you could reliably tear it down (the hub unit), where would you even begin to get the parts, let alone press it together with the right preload??????????????

On a side note, most of my sealed unit bearing failures come from overheating the front brakes on my GM's. It is extremely common to have the brake pads sieze in place, especially on the back. This in turn overworks the front brakes. Every pad on your truck should slip fit without prying out or beating in.

I have never had a GM truck, '99 and newer, where corrosion hadn't developed under the pad isolator clips. It also shows not only as overworked front brakes, but also as pitted or rusted rotor surfaces.
