My water in fuel light has been blinking on stops and turns for a while so I thought I would bleed the filter just for the heck of it ... altho it is being replaced soon. Well, imagine my surprise when I saw this ... about the color of tobacco juice and thin, fairly clear, no noticeable suspended particles. So, what is this stuff? Anyone?

Looks to me like rusty water that has had the larger particles filtered out. Because it is on the bottom it is deffinitly water based.
Yep, you're right, I added some water and it just mixed right in. Didn't want to hear that but .... I suppose I should drain my tank now and try to seal it. Does diesel require a special tank sealer or do the standard ones work ok? Dang!
