I've got a 2001 Dmax with about 45000 miles on it. I use it to tow our 35 foot fifth wheel RV. Some times when pulling a grade and the RPMs get above 2700 I'll hear this sound like lifter noise in a gasser. When the rpm drops back down it goes away. What is this and should I be concerned?? :( :help:
So far I've still got the original injectors but I'm sweating whether this rig will leave me stranded with RV attached.

Pilot injection shuts down at higher rpm's which results in typical diesel noise. That may be it. Do a search on pilot injection and you'll get more reading than you wished for...........

Your pilot injection is cutting off. It usually cuts off at 2600 rpms. Don't worry about it, it is perfectly normal.

that is the Pilot Injection as noted above, but if you have any concerns you might have your injector balance rates checked before you go on any long trips just to be safe and give you that warm fuzzy feeling again!! ;-)
