My 06 Chevy with the H.O. D-Max tach states a redline of 4500 RPM. I've tried running it up to 4500 but it seems to catch a rev limiter @ 3500 RPM. Is the 4500 redline on the tach just a pipe dream or is there something wrong with my truck?

Wow does it really say H.O. on the side or are you making that HO part up?

:D

Its for grade braking so newbs dont go running to the dealer saying that thier truck is at 4800 RPM in the red while going down a hill.

That was only for the previous versions to let you know that it was okay to power upto the dashed redline( of course the limiter wouldn't let you go any further anyway) and then you could brake with the engine all the way to 4800. For some reason or another not many people were ever aware of that until the 06 came out.
