What is the "Best" Programmer?

I've spent some time looking at the available programmers for the LB7 and I'm having trouble trying to decide on which programmer to get.
I like the Edge/Juice combo, but $800 at once is a little expensive, how well does just the Juice work? Can you adjust setting running only the Juice? I had the Hypertech for my Avalanche and it worked pretty good, I like that you can adjust for tire size and remove the speed limiter, but you can't adjust on the fly. I really haven't looked at Bully Dog so much, they seem to be more Ford oriented, and Super Chips & Predator seem a lot like the Hypertech, what are your thoughts???<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I would choose the Bullydog Powerpup over the Hypertech. The Bullydog runs stronger on it's 95hp setting than the Hypertech does on it's 96hp setting-about .2 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Also, the Bullydog does everything the Hypertech does but also removes the speed limiter. I've never tried the other two.

IMO if you're not wanting to go all out with your truck and not wanting to do any tranny upgrades, you would prob be better off with the Edge Juice w/ Attitude. Yea it is around $800 around here but sometimes you can get lucky and get one on ebay fairly cheap. The edge has some safety features for the tranny and egts. The attitude monitor also lets you test you 0-60 time and 1/4 mile times, adjust for tire size, among other things. Best of all is adjustable power on the fly. But there lots of other stuff out there, just kinda need to know how far you wanna go with it all. BTW you have an Ally or ZF-6?

I have the Ally. With the Juice only, what are the tuning options? I can get the Juice first, the get the Edge later right? Has anyone ran just the Juice?

One nice thing about the edge is that if you buy the attitude it acts as a pyro so you dont have to go out and drop $ on gauges. You priced a pod and a pyro? The 800 is not a bad deal IMO. I like how the TTS tunes drive though too if you want to zap your speedo and recal your speedo. The TTS tunes also seemed to run cooler than a similar edge tune. But my pyro when crazy so i dont have much compro time. Banks backs down too like the edge/attitude but I've never drove a banks truck so I duno bout them

the edge juice is just a single thing. i think you gettin confused with the juice with attitude... someone correct me if I'm wrong. a buddy of mine has the egde juice without the attitude monitor. it runs good and you can changes stages or power on it but it involves turning your igniton on and off and something else, ivenever done it, but you can only get 90 hp out of it this way. with the attitude monitor you can get 120-125. plus you get all the options that goes along with the attitude.

Your right, I was confused. You did answer my question though, thanks. I think I'll go with the Juice and get the controller later.

I ran just the edge box for awhile till the attitude controller thingy came out. And yes i just added the attitude. The attitude lets you play with some more cool features though and acts as gauges. A regular edge juice box(no attitude) gives you a choice of either a 90hp or 125hp(hot version), the attitude gives you either a 125hp or the hot attitude thats around 150. With any of the boxes you get a few lower tunes also. I would not run over 90hp juice(or the equivilent tune) unloaded other wise you are playing with fire. You may or may not hurt the allison going any higher but its a crap shoot IMO. If you do hurt it a bit though something to keep in mind.....people that have overpowered and hurt thier trans havent shot parts through the bottom of the pan, they just burn thier TC clutch and clutches in the trans. Onece they hurt it a bit it isnt able to hold added power as well but stock power it normally seems to work fine. Most after they have limped it and such a couple times the will rebuild it with some goodies and then throw more power at it and have a ball.

JMO but by the 90 hp regular version juice. Once you buy the attitide controller if you get it later it will bump it up to having 125 avaliable. If you start out with the HOT juice and then get a hot attitude you will really piss off your trans if you run it cranked up

i have the TTS also. I love the way it drives and runs. But I dont know id d-maxx is looking for that much power. is there a lower switchable setting that you can get without the extreme? also consider it is not an unloadable program. i bought an extra pcm to put it on. that way if i go to the dealer i put my old one back in. if you go with the tts you would prob better invest in a EGT gauge if youre gonna be towing stuff.

I would try to talk to Steve Cole if you are thinking of a TTS tune. Very helpfull if you shoot him and email or pm him. Diesel Tech by name here. He will tell you what he thinks you should run and do if you go with his stuff. Pricey but very nice. Unless you are real trigger happy you may wana hold off for a bit.....lotsa manufactures like to release thier latest and greatest widgets at SIMA. There may be some cool stuff coming out soon, I duno.

He is pretty busy as of late so it may take him a couple days to get back with ya. TTS was worth the wait though IMO

Juice is still a pretty good bang for the buck unit though.

I love my predator. Predator + guages were all about $650. I did alot of shopping before I bought them. If you do a yahoo shopping search on edge, if you decide that is what you want, you can find them alot cheaper than $800. Even talk to some of the supporting vendors. I'll bet that they can do better than $800.

I am also impatiently waiting to see what VanAaken does. The good thing is, I guess, if they're taking so long then they really must be trying to nail it down the first time and put out a good product.
