What is going on......my truck died twice. Once going around a turn it just shut off. Then the last time getting off the interstate, the door locks went crazy and engine acted like it was running out of fuel. All this with a DIC "battery not charging". Both time the truck started back up fine after turning off.Any ideas? It is not a heat/EDGE problem since both days were cold. Thanks for thehelp.

It is an edge problem. Don't care how hot it is when it dies. Pull the edge off and you will not have this problem anymore. Contact Edge and see if they will RMA your (need to do this myself).

Don't rule out the Edge either. My truck did the same thing twice, randomly. Can't say for sure it was the Edge, but Iknow it wasn't the fuel filter. It was very symptomatic of the Edge problem. If it's doing it consistently and you'ver ruled out plugged filter, disconnect the Edge and see where that gets you.

Mine did same thing twice on the interstate in traffic, unhooked the Edge and no problem, put back on and it did it again. Called Edge and they had me to send them the Edge box without the Attitude and they sent me a new one. I was not the original buyer but they said it goes by manufacture date on the box. I believe it was 2-Year warranty.

CLASSIC idiot response....Did you read the whole thing? What does the fuel filter have to do with the electrical system. IMO it is the edge box, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't diagnose it with a clogged fuel filter though.....

I assume you've had problems with your Edge box in the past? I'd check that first. Remove it and see what happens.

Second would be the batteries. When they start going bad, wierd electrical problems like that will show up.

I third what Scott and Skipp said, What does the fuel filter have to do with the electrical system?

Yeah, right...The battery not charging always comes on when the filter is plugged...
In my '04 LB7, I was having a problem that took me a few weeks to diagnose, which ended up being a clogged fuel filter. The symptoms were very similar to this. When I really got into the accellerator pedal, the DIC would flash "Battery Not Charging", power locks would cycle locked->unlocked->locked, and the RPM would go crazy as the engine died out. If I pulled over and stopped, shut the key off, let sit for 5 minutes, and started back up, it was fine.

MY problem ended up being a clogged fuel filter. I don't know how this caused electrical problems, maybe it had something to do with the engine dying out with the truck going 75, and the alternator stopping suddenly stopping. I don't know if this is the same problem NoWake is having, but the symptoms sounded the same to me. Replacing my fuel filter fixed my problem, and it hasn't happened since.

I read the whole thing, I saw that he had an Edge box. As I said above, I had a problem which produced the same symptoms which was solved by replacing my fuel filter. I don't know why the fuel filter being clogged caused my electrical problems, but I would assume it had to do with the engine stalling out at 75.

I could be wrong, maybe the problem IS entirely in the Edge box. It's still worth ASKING when the last FF change was, given the range of problems a clogged fuel filter can cause.

I may have come off as a little "idiotic" or arrogant in the wording of my first reply; that was not at all my intention... I believe my reasoning is valid, weather or not my oppinion solves the problem.

Thanks for the replies.

The problem could be the Mini Cooper close proximity. To answer another question....yes I have had problems with EDGE before, the current box is number four.

Now to the fuel filter.....it has just under 10,000 miles on it and it is due for a change with the oil.

The batteries could be the issue....after a cold start the other day my voltage was only 10v with the heat help. This seemed lower than normal.

When I get home the first thing I am going check is each of the batteries and then get the oil/filters changed just because they are due.

I will let you know what the out come is.

The batteries both check out fine 12.5 and 12.6 on the charge and that was after sitting for a week.

Humor me, as I have a reason for asking.

Since you mention Edge, was it raining? If so, where your wipers on? If so, in what position; intermittent, or low/high?

I assume when you checked on your batteries that you checked all 4 connections were good and tight? I got a weird glow cycle a few months ago and my voltmeter was reading low. I found both positive cables could be moved by hand. Negatives were tight. It appears that the positives go through "thermal cycles" and will loosen. I've cleaned and coated mine with dielectric grease and give them a periodic "tight tweak" with an 8mm box wrench whenever I'm under the hood.

Yes it was freezing rain and the wipers where on. :(

The first time I was going around a corner when it died....but that time it just died. No "battery not charging" and no door looks opening and closing.

Yes, the connections are/was tight and secure.
