What hydraulic fluid for floor jack?

I have a 3 ton floor jack that won't jack all the way up anymore. Although I've never seen a leak out of it, I am assuming it just needs fluid. I've never had to add fluid to a floor jack before so my question is, what fluid do you use and how much do you add? Will brake fluid work?

Thanks,

Use plain jane ATF. Lower the jack all the way, pull the rubber plug out of the side of the body and fill er up. DO NOT use brake fluid or else it will leak.
If it isn't leaking, the metric u-cup at the bottom of the plunger is bad.

I use harvest king hydraulic fluid for our jacks. If it isn't down when you fill it up you WILL overfill it.
