If you think your fuel prices are high, try the UK for size. Diesel is currently $11.25 a gallon and still going up! 😱With the high fuel prices. i have been doing things to improve Mileage.
Took off my Mud terrains and put on highway tires. 285x17
Aligned the front end for best fuel mileage.
Cleaned my air filter
Checked fuel system tank to IP.
Changed oil Rotella T6
Changed Trans, xfer case fluid, front and rear diffs to synthetic
Removed lumber racks.
Installed the stock front air dam I removed many years ago.
Should help a lot. Just switching out to highway tires gives me 2-3 MPG on the freeway.
Havent checked mileage. But boost pressures going down the highway are 1-2 lbs lower now. That was my goal .
Less air= less fuel.
Our diesel prices are crazy too.About $11 a gallon here as well in places. If you think your fuel prices are high, try the UK for size. Diesel is currently $11.25 a gallon and still going up! 😱

Inspect the starter bolt holes well. If they get out of round you'll have more issues.Went under to investigate what the source of an unpleasant starting sound that I was pretty sure was a loose starter bolt. Confirming my suspicion didn't take long as I found half a starter bolt on the ground. Extracting the other half from the block was "fun" but I got there in the end. About 12 months ago these bolts required tightening. A little further investigation revealed why they were loose then and why this bolt snapped. The bracket for the nose of the starter was not bolted to the block!
AC Delco at minimum for bolts but I've notice my last set of delco seemed light on the knurling.Inspect the starter bolt holes well. If they get out of round you'll have more issues.
When reinstalling new starter bolts only use the OEM bolts with the knurling
Sir, you're very lucky you don't have a cracked block. That front starter support is_important_.Went under to investigate what the source of an unpleasant starting sound that I was pretty sure was a loose starter bolt. I'd say that was a shop you'd never take your truck to again!Changed oil and fuel filters. Found my exhaust leak. When i had the exhaust shop put doughnuts in I'm guessing the monkey behind the wrench went nuts with the impact when tighting the bolts and stripped the threads, I had one bolt missing with no threads in the hole. I was able to fit a 3/8 bolt in there with a nut on the other side. It isn't leaking as bad as it was but I'll have to get new gaskets again.
Yeah don't plan on it. Only reason I took it to them was I was short on time and needed other exhaust work done and they where the only place in town that could do anything with 4in piping.I'd say that was a shop you'd never take your truck to again!![]()
