Forgive a stupid question from a new Diesel owner in Minnesota! With our cold weather the wait to start lamp is lit quite a long time! What is being heated ? Is it the fuel filter or individual injectors or both! Do the cylinders have glow plugs! Could someone please tell me the process associated with the lamp! Meanwhile I'll patiently wait! Thanks Dan

Glow plugs warm the cylinder air and walls for quicker easier start up when cold .... Heating the air to a minimum 850 * is what is desired I have been told ...

There is also an intake heater/heating grid that I believe ties into the light as well. This way the air coming in gets heated before it hits the cylinder chamber. Edited by: camp
