Now that duck season is over I was cleaning out the Burb. I removed the passenger side floormat and it was soaked with water. I have Catch All floor mats so even if wet boots were in the truck the mats would catch all of the moisture. It is not antifreeze judging by the lack of odor and color of the paper towel I used. I know there is a tendency for the HVAC drain to clog. Where is this drain and what is the best way to clean it out?

I have the same problem and have researched the problem extensively. I don't think anyone has ever found a sure fire cure and posted it on the Internet.

However, over on the fullsize Chevy truck forum there is a thread where several guys fixed their leak. Many have tried the HVAC drain but that was not the problem.

Instead, for them, it was the screws that hold down the plastic cover underneath the windshield wipers. One of the screws leads straight into the passenger compartment. Folks have taken this passenger side screw, doped it up with silly-cone, and solved the problem.

I haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure. Another fellow on the forum indicated he had to take the passenger fender off. There he found that a factory sealed seam was no longer "factory sealed". A good dose of our favorite miracle gel (silly-cone) solved his problem.

Good luck.

It could be your windshield leaking. The seal may be gone in just one small area. I've seen this before.
Any chance of that? Has it been in moisture lately? Car wash?

Just some ideas. Good luck.

I have one on the drivers' side. I noticed after a pretty good storm a couple of weeks ago when I opened my door, there was a puddle on the floor mat. I'm kinda baffled because there's no 'drip' path to follow so I'm not sure where it came from. I have a permanent wet spot in the carpet underneath the floor mat and can't find where it's coming from.

Hasn't been in a car wash lately but it is parked outside in the elements. The wife's car gets the garage's preferential treatment :D . It has been raining here off and on for the last couple of weeks. I will check the screw and windshield when it warms up.

water in passengers side-

mine is caused by the seal around the fresh air inlet- i remove the cowl vent- hard to locate all the screws with out a mirror to look down at them-remove wipers- there is an access panel oval in shape that is "glued down" i pried in up and ran some silicone around the rectangular "stand pipe" i think there is a proper seal but appears that you would have to remove the dash to get to it!!!!!! mine is a 1995 chev silverado-not an easy task but that is where the water came in (a LOT of water) Hope someone posts on the proper way to stop the leak.

Leaking NEW windshield

I am on my third free windshield in 18 months in my Suburban. After the second windshield I found water on the passanger side, this was about a month ago. The carpet mat was socked up to the center console. After hours of my testing and a driving in real hard down poor I found water leaking all along the right side of the windshield. I also found it dipping between two pieces of trim along the windshield pillar. Safelite, opps did I say thier name, replaced the windshield for the thrid time, no questions asked. So far no leaks. Happy hunting.

Something to ponder...

Check the EVAP housing for the A/C under the dash. Condensation will form on the coils and drip. If the drain line is leaking it will soak the floor on the passenger side. This only happens when running the A/C for awhile.

See here for a better explanation than I can give. I think this is what DieselDufus was referring to. One of the screws goes into the heater box and once the seal is broken it will forever leak unless you put some of that miracle gel in the hole before the screw goes back in. It solved my problem. Good luck....

Ya ya Uri, das eet, das eet.

So the big question is, budroe, have you had that cowl off for any reason? It doesn't mean you have to have taken it off (someone might have done it previously to replace the wiper motor) but it might shed some light. I've had mine off a few times and then I noticed the leak. I didn't make the connection until I saw it in the fullsizechevy forum.

I have a 96 tahoe, 2dr sport and the pass floor was coninuously wet after it rained. I took it to a mechanic friend of mine and he said they removed the cowel and there was something inside there to do with the heat/ac and it was actually funneling the water into the blower box. The water then drained onto the carpet. He cut something out of the way and siliconed the crap out of it. No problems since and its been about 6mos. Sorry I can't be more informative but its a start.

Duck Season - Rabbit Season - Duck Season - Rabbit Season - Duck Season - Rabbit Season !!!

Sorry, had a flashback....

Not that this will help but.... I had the same thing happen in my Cavalier, turned out the fresh air inlet under the cowl was rotting away in the steel. Sandpaper and goo fixed it up.
