I don't know where exactly this noise is coming from but I'll try to describe it. It happens after spinning the tires, either after power jacking on asphalt (2wd) or just spinning in the sand (4wd). When I stop spinning the tires, and the engine is winding down, I hear a noise from I think from under the truck. It's hard to describe. It's almost like gears grinding? Or like when you put your car in park way before it stops rolling? It only happens for about 3-5 seconds. Any ideas? Truck otherwise runs great. Is this normal? Am I hurting anything?

Could it be the ABS? Just a guess...

Are you spinning the tires faster then 25mph? If so then it maybe your locking rearend is trying to re-engage when the tires slow down under 25mph,the locking rear disengages at 25mph or greater so when you slow the tire spin down it might be trying to engage again thus gear noise just before both wheels lock again.

The abs will turn on when you jack the brakes. If you spin long enough and the front tires are spinning at a different speed like on ice the brake indicator will come on also. You may or should be able to feel it in the wheel and pedal also.

i had this happen to me only once before and it was when i was powerbraking and then took off. my speedo was at about 40 and then i let off of the brake to take off and it did it for a couple seconds and then took off and drove fine. i always though that it was the wastegate blowing open but myabe not. i have noticed that a lot of 6 liter fords make the same sound when spinning on ice or in mud when they let off

I would bet it's the ABS. I've had my truck a month now and yesterday I tried to pull a wagon that had sunk in the ground then froze. I couldn't budge it. I was spinning all 4 tires and when I let off the accelerator and put my foot on the brake to get out I heard and felt the rumbling/vibration in the brake pedal. Nothing to worry about unless somebody knows something I don't.
