Hello,
Considering replacing my water pump as I discovered a water puddle below the water pump on the engine. I'll pressure test to find the exact location. My question is can i use either water pump that is shown in the Q/A with out having to change the backplate. Both pumps below are rated at 130 GPM? I just don't want to think later I should have done xyz different.
96 1/2 - 98 130GPM 4 bolt waterpump AC Delco :# 252717,GM # 88926231
2000 spin on clutch 130GPM waterpump AC Delco:# 252776,GM #88926290

Both are the HO water pump style.
The difference between the two pumps is the fan clutch attachment.
the 96.5-98' is the 4 bolt on fan clutch
the 2000' is the threaded, spin-on fan clutch

If your fan bolts on to the fan clutch then use the first one.
If your fan screws on to the fan clutch, use the second one.
