There has been a lot of talk lately about who sells the WAP 'quick heat' glow plugs....

The ones I have installed in my truck were bought from indusa....

Here is a link to WAP's webpage indicating who sells their plugs...you will notice that SS Diesel makes the list...

I have a set of WAPs. 20,000 miles and 18 months or so later they're all working fine. My truck pops right off at well below zero F without being plugged in.

However, since it sounds like I'm in the minority regarding the success rate of these plugs, I probably wouldn't buy them again.
>Kennedy sells "quick-heats" - $80 US per set
1 yr replacement warranty<

I just received the Kennedy glow plugs and they are Wellman brand. Granted I have not heard of them before.
I have used SS Diesel glows. They lasted 8 months. 5 out of 8 bad! But you can get a max of 2 replacements. Whats up with that. I am back to 60's but think I will insatll a set of Heath's.
Hehehe....

I guess I spoke too soon....my WAPs are dropping like flies...

My truck is having real problems starting at -8* celsius right now....used to fire up at -20* celsius without even being plugged in....

When my truck does fire up it sounds like it is running on about 4 or 5 cylinders until the other ones slowly 'come online'...

Time to start looking for some 60Gs....they are not cheap up here in Canada....

Sure could use an ally in the States to get me a cheap set from Autozone....nudge nudge wink wink...
Chris,

Look at delcodiesel on ebay. $60 for a set of 8 60G delphi glows and shipping is about $12 via USPS (not UPS!)

You can't get anything close to that in Canada.

Dave
Thanks Dave,

I have another system in the works right now with a member from here that lives in the States...;)
Checkout jdemaris' post on WAP's in the 6.2 forum - very interesting..........
It is only about -7*celsius right now and even with my truck plugged in I had a hard time getting it started this morning.....I don't even think these (WAP) plugs are worth the shipping it would cost me to get them replaced on warranty...lesson learned....
Chris,

I am getting sent to the US for work the first week of April. If you can make it til then, I can bring back a set for you. I have Walt's quick heats as well on a fresh install, but am quite certain they will die before next winter. Shouldn't be too tough to coordinate here in toon town. PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for the offer but I already have a member on here sending me a set from down south.....

Do you have any pics of your truck? I have seen a few around here that might be yours....
     WAP plugs are crap!!!!

Don't anybody buy them. They stop working when you need them the most.
Quick Heats

Put SS Diesel Quick heats in my truck back in july. In febuary truck just would not start for 3 or 4 days so i pulled all of them and all were bad. Got 60g's at the local Oriellys for 8.99 a plug and no more problems. Not trying to bad mouth SS Diesel as i have bought other items from them with no problems but those glows really suck.

My bad. Just realized that SS Diesel sells Instant Heats not Quick Heats. Sorry been a while since i put them in.

Deck
Yep their glows are junk....it is WAP that supplies them....not really SS Diesel's fault...
I suppose I should test all of mine. I've had them in for about a year.

I can't agree more.

If you have no starting issues with you truck......why check them?
One warning though. When one fails, they all start to fail fast!!

I will say one thing...when those WAP plugs worked, they sure worked well.
Left side bank is fine. I think I'll wait a while (till it's warm out or till I have starting probs) before checking the right side.

Guess I'm the only one left here still happy with their WAP plugs.

Installed the 5 easy GPs the other day....good thing too....-26 celsius this morning.....truck was not plugged in.....turned on ign and let the GPs run their course.....flipped on the override for an extra 5 seconds of glow...crank the truck over and it caught right away....feels good when things work like they should....:D
If you have any questions concerning WAP glow plugs, i'm here to address them. I also can answer questions concerning other glow plug manufacturers and controller issues.
