Hello Everyone,
Newbe here,Not real familiar with these transmissions - just purchased a used gmc 6500 w/allison AT545. (95000 miles)
My Question is when I take off from a full stop the truck feels like it vibrates or shutters a little, is this normal or is the tranny slipping?
If I give it gas (Step on it) it goes and switches to 2nd and the vibration goes away and no symtoms in any other gear, But from normal acceleration the symtom remains during 1st gear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!!

I don't know if that's normal or not but one way you can help isolate the cause is to shift to neutral when you feel the vibration. If you can still feel it it's likely in the driveline. If it goes away it could be powertrain related.

I seem to remember that as the AT's get older there are replacement valve spring kits you can get to compensate for the clutch wear. Might want to find a good Detroit Diesel-Allison distributor in the area and see what they think. Check our Allisontransmission.com for locations.
