Van starter vs truck starter.

Does anyone know the difference between the starter from a van and truck. A while ago I replaced my starter with a used one off a G30 Vandura. Problem was I couldn`t get the support braket to line up. It was winter and cold so I figured I`d get to it later. Never did. Earlier this year a starter bolt broke (surprise surprise)got a braket for it but it wouldn't line up no way no how. Needed it for work so I put it back on and promptly forgot about it. Had it off again today to fix a broken wire and spent more time looking at it. I can`t see any way that the braket can fit on the block and the starter. Is it because it;s off a van?

I'll be no help with this, but Rock Auto shows same part numbers on both vehicles. Can you snap a pic of how it looks?

Well I took a look at the Rockauto and they van and truck sure look the same and both look like mine. Me and my thick head will just have to try try again.

I have Vans with both kinds of starters direct drive and gear reduction as far as I've seen the van uses the same starter as a truck. Did you compair your old starter to your new starter? Do you have the right bracket? Try switching ends to see if you can get it to line up. If you still don't see how it goes back together see if you can find a motor with the starter and bracket on it to see how it goes!! You have to have the bracket on there or you will have more problems! Good Luck!.....Simon 6.5#1

I have both brackets and I can't get either to work. I took a look at Napa at a starter for a van and one for a truck. They have different product #'s (5202 vs 5201 or something) but both look identical to each other and to my starter. I'll go take a look at my parts truck one day then I'll figure it out.
