I have installed umbrella type valve stem seals on the intake valves of my deisel. I have just learned diesels don't use seals on the intake valve stems. Should I remove these for better lubrication on the intake valves or will it be all right to leave them in? Heads are not on the truck yet so it is not a big deal to take them out. I am working on a 1994 6.5 F code engine.

In my opinion,i'd put umbrella seals on both the intake and exhaust. You'll be okay if you put those on.Oil can be drawn down through the intake guide on the intake stroke and that could lead to oil consumption later in its life. The same goes for the exhaust valve as well.As the exhaust gases exit the cylinder,it creates the atomizer effect which means oil will be pulled down through the valve guide and that could lead to oil consumption as well.Umbrellas on both valves would be something i'd do.

I'm sure other guys will chime in and give their 2 cents worth on this.:)

I dont think theres any draw on the intake side, either zero vacuum or pressure from boost.
