I noticed that none of the 03 GM Pickups come with under hood lights. I asked the Fleet Truck Manager at my local Chevy dealership. He told me the underhood light went just like the body moldings on the beds did. 1 way for GM to hold the price down

He suggested getting one from a auto salvage yard. He thought all the wireing was still there if I could get the part that goes on the hood. I havn't had a chance to check it out yet. They also left the underhood light off on my wifes 03 Tahoe!!!!

I actually like the light that my Dad's 90 has. It's got an extending cord that you can unreel and look around under the hood with and then rewind it back when your done. Was OEM on a 90 K2500 truck.

Those were pretty nice. They stopped putting them in the C/K's around 1993 too because of cost.

I am sure you could still order one and install it somewhere under the hood. Maybe Eric could get the part #?

That was my thought, maybe a "replacement" 1990 part?

count me in on one of these lights. I have one on my 91 and have thought of using that one but we still use that truck too and both lights come in handy on it.

Mine is an 02 and I am not impressed. Its a light ~ yes but everything in the compartment is black which swallows up what little light it gives.

Eric, what kind of plug does the reel light use? If I remember correctly, just standard weather pac?

I solved this issue with the installation of a Streamlight

It was a bit more than $10 or $30 but its a hell of a lot better light and can go anywhere.

Eric -

Since its your store, does it have to be "open" to sell me a light?
If not, I'll PayPal you in one of those New York minutes. I'm kinda into instant gratification.

The reel light came stock in my 95 Suburban. I still have the Suburban but the light is no longer in it. It's sitting on my bench just waiting for me to put it in my D-Max. The cheap POS light that came stock with my 01 is going to be tossed. If you don't want to buy the reel light then take that $10.00 and buy your self a cheap flashlight. You'd be much better off with the flashlight than the stock underhood light!!
