Is the GT42R going to become the turbo of choice for truck pullers in pro street? If so there might be some good buys on A5000's in near furture. Does the GT42R mount the same or does it require a special pedestal and down pipe?

The Aurora 5000 is a 1312CFM turbo....so it is still king:)
The A5k kit itself is cheaper than just the Gt42R BB turbo only:D

You want a moddified GT42R from Forced Inductions:D It will out flow both 108lbs/ minute:) I have had the 5000 and the modded 42R . Both are great turbos but the modded 42 will out perform the 5000.

What exactly is modded on the GT42r from Forced Induction from a regular GT42r?

How much is it? What do they do to the turbo to get the extra flow? Clip it, etc? Thanks!:)
The PPE is a full kit. Vendors and dealers are not allowed to discuss pricing in technical threads.

The PPE "journal bearing" GT42 is similiar mechanically to the A5000. The GT42R is a roller bearing water-cooled charger.

The PPE GT42R on a 6480lb truck went 120+ mph on fuel at a track famous for it's low MPH. We will test it a sea level track, and tune it, and are expecting 123+ mph with no other changes.

Its a complete kit? I heard rumors that the PPE kit wasnt 100% complete. You drop 4195$ and you will have everything to bolt a gt42R on a LBZ?

The ATS kit is pretty much complete isnt it?

Any other smaller costs that one dosnt think about? Just need to supply tools? Looking at the price difference between a 5000 and a gt42r after its all said and done.

I realy need to stop thinking about turbos.......talking to the boys at ATS and Crank it up this weekend and then talking to Ric realy didnt help. I need :help: I cant stop.....must stop modding daily driven plow truck......I need a support group or something. I think I kicked the drug habbit but the itch for power is still there  :help:

Also I know the 42R is the BB version.......but whats the difference in performance potential between the 42 and 42R? Any hard numbers? I know spool up.....but once its spooled

Hows the 42 spool compared to the 5000 I wonder?

Or point me to a thread were the info is laid out.......thanks :)

I was running the prototype LLY system, the kits will have the appropriate intake with them.

I haven't tested the journal version, but it's on my "list of things to do".

So its 100% complete kit? Intake, all the lines and tubes etc. Everything there? Only part not included is a way to keep the ECM happy so you need a custom tune?

Haha, dude, you're awesome:D
I'm just curious about the reliability of a ball-bearing
turbo in a diesel motor with all the carbon and soot that loves to
attack those style bearings. More of a race style turbo,
i'd just go with the GT42 with thrust bearings myself:)
