just doing a little maintenance on the wifes sub.no real problems but i would like to know if the w/g actuator is open with the engine off? and when started it immediately closes is this is this the way it should be?

me thinks so, with the truck running it should take some serious finger pressure to move the lever. vac should suck it in and with the engine off and no vac it should release. or so one would think.

:exactly: As edz says, while running should be almost impossible to move.

WG actuator should move freely with engine off. If not, may cause issues with over/underboost situation. I believe that the WG "rests" in the open position.

If it did hold a vacuum when you shut it off that would be better.

If it leaks off immediately then have either a leaking Actuator, Vacuum line or WG Solenoid.
