a friend of mine has a spade already that he'd be willing to let me use since he's not constantly changing tunes.. I'm just looking to do an "optimized" tune cuz I don't really care to constantly reprogram.

Do I just have to buy a license for my vin?

You probably know by now.

YES, but you need to contact Dmax tuner to write you a tune for your truck.
The tunes are vin # specific which means you’ll have to pay for a vin license, you will not be able to use your friends tunes.
The Spade/AutoCal can hold up to 8 different vin #’s and usually 4-5 tunes, if they are compressed ctz files.

Dmax tuner is very helpful helping out customers trying to figure out this new fangeled tuner computer stuff.

I run my single tune 24/7-365 I never change tunes except to try another tuner a few times, but I always go back to my first ATP tune that I got on 6/2012.
