:wtf: hey peoples,i was at anaheim stadium for supercross:D.
in the middle of the track they had the new toyota tundra.it had a scrolling sign in the bed.one of the things it said was (if you cant tow it with this truck then maybe it shouldnt get towed) i know that they are talking about in its class and all. as most of us here are smart enough to know better. my question is how many people are going to go out and buy them thinking they can do anything? i can just see the guy pulling up to the toy hauler dealer and saying"ill take the 43 footer please":idiot:
and have the salesman sell it to him.wouldnt put it past them
so what do you think bout that?anyone else see that?
your opinions please

I've seen S-10's pulling stuff 4x their size.

that is exactly what i am saying.why people risk their lives along with others around them is beyond me.why do i get a ticket for going 62 mph.
when that guy is the real danger?even the 1/2 ton chevy, ford ,dodge guys pulling 30 foot or longer trailers, with the a$$ end of the truck on the ground after a 6 inch lift. im sorry for the rant but this just pi**es me off.some salesmen need to be shot. while i know most are pretty knoweledgable, there are some that just want the buck.pretty sad.

The Tundra would probably do a pretty good job towing a mid sized TT. Nothing too heavy and no 5ers. If it says it's a half ton, looks like a half ton, has the ratings of a half ton...it'll probably do the job like a half ton.

Sure got some misleading advertising on TV. We all know what to expect from that hitch they're so tickled about and then there's the ring gear and rotor comparison. If the generally uninformed public bites, I guess then it's mission accomplished. The ads just pi$$ me off. The impression that their products are superior to American owned manufacturers products hasn't been true for a long long time. WTF?!!!

In a compact truck I'd take a Toyota over any other. You just can't kill the little f******. For a real truck give me Chevy, Dodge and Ford.

I'm sure some might have seen my other posts about I towed 15,000 lbs about 70 miles once and often tow 10,000 pounds of tractor/FEL and bushog. and no I don't turn off the O/D when towing. Thats why they call them AUTOMATIC transmissions. pick a road speed and the transmission picks the correct gear to maintain engine rpm.
I had a set of the bags over the rear springs for a couple months. of course I got a little eager when loading the tractor one day and they popped like a kids balloon.
When it was about 6 months old I was off roading in sand and driving off small jumps. saw one with no tracking leading to it and hit it doing 60 mph. As I went airborn realized why no one else had gone off it. rear wheels touched down 22 feet from jump (measured) hit hard enough one headlight went out of alignment and part of camper shell rail got a hair line crack. Other than that nothing. That was almost 8 years ago.
My transmission works fine, I haven;t had any problems that were not in technical service bulletins or recalls.
Some people think it is a mini truck. It is a truck. a toyota truck and I have run every yota I had had like it was indestructable and never been disappointed.
As long as your behavior is not endangering others it's your truck.

how about this idiot 15K trailer weight:eek: how did he hook it up?????????
maybe a 1/2 ton form the bigg 3 but NOT a toy or nissian

I was in Nashville for the pull a couple of weeks ago. My GF & I stayed at a Radison close to the airport. In the parking lot there was a Toyota (corporate) Nascar 5th wheel. I guess one that just pulls a display car around to public events and such. I thought it was funny because it was being pulled by a GMC Duramax. I should have taken a picture. It sort of struck me as odd, but I guess Toyota does not think they are competeing against GMC in Nextel.

Lats week I was westbound on I40 just east of Memphis and saw 6 or 8 new Tundras in a convoy pulling maybe 16' or 18' enclosed trailers (regular hitch). I guess they were also on their way to some promotional event.

I myself do not need a truck the size of my Dmax. I would love to find a 1/2 ton diesel with about 2/3 the HP & torque that got about 23 mpg.
